Life: Trick or Treat! Dogedition

The title already gave it away: Diego and I celebrated Halloween together! I was so excited this year to give it my all and since Diego always shares my enthusiasm, I was determined to dress up together. Who ever said you needed a boyfriend to match your costumes with?

When searching for the right costume, the decision was made swiftly. Some time ago, I saw a picture of a dog with lion manes and I thought this would be perfect on Diego’s fur colour. I didn’t have to think too hard to come up with a matching costume for me. I am a long time fan of The Wizard of Oz and my choice was made! However if you need some inspiration, these options were also on my list:

  • Red Riding Hood and the wolf
  • Gamora and Groot from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
  • Princess Leia and Chewbacca from ‘Star Wars’

Then my search started after a lion mane for dogs. I firstly looked after options to make them myself, but this proved a little bit too hard since I couldn’t find the right materials. And so, I went hunting on the World Wide Web, where I came across this Dutch webshop: FunkyDogs. I always enjoy trying out new webshops, especially when they are of Belgian or Dutch origin. Support your local (web)shops!

I ordered the lion mane and an advent calendar for dogs on FunkyDogs on Wednesday evening and the following day I received a confirmation that my order had been sent and a Track & Trace code from PostNL. My order came in the mail Friday noon. It goes without saying that I couldn’t be happier with this quick delivery. The items were well wrapped and of good quality! For the mane, I only needed to add a red bow to complete Diego’s costume of the Cowardly Lion.

For my own costume, it wasn’t too difficult to dig up something from my own closet. I picked out my blue sparkly dress and wore a white shirt underneath it. I combined it with these cute red dancing shoes which belonged to my mother. I wore little blue socks in them. For my make-up I kept it quite simple: some winged eye-liner and a beautiful red lipstick did the trick. Since I already have brown hair I needn’t dye it and it is just long enough to make tiny milk braids, which I fastened with some blue bows.
