Now we are getting closer to the end of the year, the temperatures here in Europe are dropping and the days are turning darker. On Blogmas Day 2, I’ll therefor present you a capsule Winter Wardrobe: 5 trends/ items which make sure you have everything you need to face the coldest days in style.
- Corduroy
One of my favourite winter trends of all time and very much on trend this year is corduroy. Whether it is a coat, a skirt or trousers, you can easily add a corduroy piece into every outfit. I find it a great way to give your look some extra texture, and it is so much fun to play around with different layers in the same colour.
- Animal print
Nobody can deny it anymore, the animal print is on the rise. Finally everyone realizes that it can be more than tacky or just wrong, but it can be fun to put some print into those dark winter looks. It’s no longer like in the ’80’s or ’90’s, the ’18 version consists of adding one printed piece subtly into an ‘regular’ outfit. However, this trend is not for the minimalists. Snake and Leopard are the two most popular prints.
- Turtlenecks
Another one of my basics to survive winter: a warm turtleneck. Whether it is a body-hugging pullover or a chunky sweater: you can find them in all sizes and colours. However, I think it is just great to own some of thinner turtlenecks in the basic colours like white, black and brown. Because you can easily combine them and create a both wonderful and warm look.
- Chunky sweaters
If you are a cold fish like me (I get cold from the moment the temperature drops beneath 20 degrees), you know that this is not just a style tendency, but also a must in Winter. This year, the more boxy type is very much on trend. I do like the variation with the balloon sleeves, which is slightly more feminine. A couple of basics are nice to have as a wardrobe staple, but it is also the perfect way to add a pop of colour in your darker closet.
- Shearling coats
At first, I thought it looked very much like wearing your bathrobe outside of the house, but it kind of grew on me and right now I am a huge fan. It also probably has to do with the fact it looks fluffy, cozy and warm (high teddy bear percentage). You can find them in every colour you can imagine, but a white or brown coat fits almost onto every single outfit. Mostly those coats are slightly oversized, so I would advise everyone to size down or if you are doubting between two sizes, to take the smaller option. You don’t want to look like a coat with legs. 😉
